A Beautiful Day in Houston? Really?

Days like today are hard to come by. Houston’s weather is usually either cloudless but insanely hot and humid or thunderstorms all over the place. I have no idea what the actual temp is today, go look it up, but it just felt good walking outside this morning.

Interesting how traffic wasn’t so bad today. Perhaps a lot of people got “sick” today? Sucks for me, as I actually am a bit sick, but have to work (Downtown) nonetheless.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Tomorrow it could be gray and dreary or hot an humid all over again.

NEVER give up on the Cowboys!!

Nick Folk

My Dad used to ALWAYS say this during football season. Of course, he was right, and for most of football-loving America tonight, they got to see why.

Dallas 25, Buffalo 24. The “Miracle in Buffalo”: a final 2 seconds field goal from an impossible 53 yards, successfully kicked not once, but twice, (thanks to an “ice-out” last second time-out by the Bill’s coach) by rookie kicker Nick Folk!

I have to admit, the Bills fans were ready, loud and energetictonight, causing the Cowboys all kinds of trouble. But as Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo stated after the game, his team is “resilient” and was able to dig him out of the hole he dug with 5 interceptions.

I almost had a freaking heart attack tonight, watching the Cowboys blunder left and right! SO many close calls! The Bills had the game all but wrapped up and they managed to still blow it. But hey, America is God’s country, right? And the Cowboys are America’s team, so…you do the math. ;)

The Cowboys have some serious work to do to get ready for the Patriots next week, but for the next 6 days, The Cowboys are 5-0, undefeated thus far. The Patriots are 5-0 as well, so someone is going home crying next week.

I have always and always will love the Cowboys. I bleed blue. Never EVER give up on the Cowboys!

What’s In a Name?

joshhaley banner

Yesterday I bought my name. My name as a domain name. Honestly, I couldn’t believe it was available! My pal Justin told me that if I didn’t buy it, he would (and probably sell it to me for 5-10 times more later, after I come to my senses! What are friends for, right? :p ) So I bought it, along with a really good deal on hosting. Only $5.95 per month for like an insane amount of storage space and bandwidth and features. So I’m pretty happy about that. Supposedly, I can add a bunch of domain names to this hosted site (gotta pay for them, of course) and manage them all from one place. I added this WordPress blog to it in minutes and am already using the ftp site for all kinds of fun stuff. I can even add 2500 emails. That’s not a typo. Two thousand five hundred different email accounts. So let me know if you want an email for yourself that ends in joshhaley.com, I’m selling ‘em cheap! ;)

I’ll let you know how it goes.

My Life to 36

It is only 10 am on my 36th birthday and I am already having a great day. I was awoken by my kids who had all kinds of gifts for me, some home made, some simply toys they had collected and were tired of and thought they would give to me. I thought it was very thoughtful.

On the way in to work, the girl at Sonic had my diet coke ready for me before I could order it. Does she know it’s my brithday somehow? Hmmm.

I listened to King’s X – Tapehead album on the way and it just washed over me like a refreshing breeze. What a great band and what an insanely good album!

My parents sent me an email with pictures attached, chronicling some of my life’s most important moments up to this point. So I made a slideshow. Yay me!

The Culmination of Years of Effort and Sacrifice…

Tickets to Hawaii for me and Trish to go to my graduation: $1200
Money well spent on plate lunches: $150
Tuition for college over the many years: $A LOT
Being asked to purchase this graduation photo of me recieving my diploma with my eyes shut: PRICELESS

No thanks, guys. I’ll take this watermarked version and blog about it for free. Thanks for the memories!

Fitting, isn’t it? Obviously I was trying too hard by going through all that trouble to “walk” at my own friggen graduation. The karma gods win this round.

Feel free to post your favorite subtitles to this one. I’ll start:

Going Bald On My Own Terms

I shaved my head this morning. Always wanted to know what it would be like. Now I know.

Would I rather have all the hair I had back in high school? Yeah.
Am I going to wear a hat everywhere I go now? Maybe a few times at first.
Am I happy with the bolo-headedness? It’s quite cooler in temparature and is fun to rub the really really short hair.

Overall, I am OK with it. I did it on purpose. I didn’t lose a bet. It just is what it is. Who knows if I’ll keep it like this. Who really cares anyway, right? There you go.

Peace,

Josh

NYC Pipe Blast Montage – I Created/Edited This One

Here it is. I finally got permission to post it.It took a few hours to edit and even more to gather the footage, but only seconds to decide what music to use. I think it came out pretty well. Even if the music isn’t your thing (Metallica – One) you may still appreciate it in the context.

Enjoy,

Josh
